Weather: The temperature in June-August summer is 25 deg to 35 deg C. It plummets to 7 deg C in spring (March-May) and autumn (Oct - Nov). In winter (Dec-Feb) temperature drops to minus 10 deg C.
About Gulmarg
The tourist destination of Gulmarg lies at a distance of 56 kilometers from Srinagar, Kashmir. Gulmarg is one of the most frequented hill resorts in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The word gul means flowers, and thus the name Gulmarg stands for a meadow of flowers. Flowers that bloom in this meadow include bluebells, daisies, forget-me-nots and buttercups. Getting around Gulmarg is done mostly by foot. There is one road that does a loop around the whole area. Walking around it would take about an hour.
How to reach
Gulmarg is located 52 km from Srinagar (the capital of Kashmir).
From Srinagar you can reach Gulmarg on a 1.5 or 2 hours (depending on snow condition) jeep ride.
By Air:
Srinagar is linked by Air to Delhi.
By Road:
Srinagar is connected to Jammu and other neighboring areas by road. A road trip from Delhi to Srinagar will take 2 days in bus or Jeep.
By Rail:
Gulmarg is not directly approachable by Rail. Jammu is the nearest Railway Station, connected by train to all parts of the country. From Jammu it is one more day traveling by car to Srinagar.
